      A high school or language school experience in Austria

      It is a magical country and has been hosting people for centuries. Austria has so much to offer, there is just something to do all the time. History in Austria words can not describe it. It has diverse landscapes, alp’s, rivers, forest and scenery. Each town and village is lovely, exciting and has its own style. Austrians are friendly helpful and warm people. Coffee, cafes is the flavor of the town. Vienna, Salzburg are just overflowing with cultural and Tyrol are the picturesque mountains.   • Frohe Weihnachten” Merry Christmas in AUSTRIA and attend a local high school or language school for 3 weeks and 6 week with a great Austrian, german family to improve your speaking skills. Depart December and returning early January during your summer vacation. Study abroad in Austria is very popular. It is a great time to experience a white Christmas as well as the hot soups, strudels, hot chocolate as you sit around the fire with your host family and share stories together.     School Life in Austria is a great place to meet some great new friends. Gymnasium- school starts 8am – 2pm weekdays German is the spoken language in Austria and best if you should know some German or take some classes before you leave. CEA Shorter program maybe a good option if your German is not so strong. There are standard subjects such as German, English, Mathematics,, physics and so on. Most people speak English in Austria, so this will help if you wish to go as mentioned on the shorter program.

    Sports and Activities In Austrian high schools you can participate in lots of activities and sports. Schools will offer various sports and may include skiing, volleyball, football, hockey, soccer. Music is part of the school and there are many clubs you can join and play in a team.

    Host family life in Austria Host families are caring and welcoming. Host families are carefully chosen by our host family coordinator in Austria and personally interviews the families. All families are police checked and screened prior to student placement. Host families will show you all the great sightseeing hot spots and really include you in the family. Families may live in the larger cities, local village or in the alps and mountains. They are keen to have you come and stay and experience Austrian life. Families do many activities together, cycling, hiking, visiting museums, shopping, movies. They will help make you feel welcome to the family and its important that you also will give some of yourself to be part of the family and this works better and you have full immersion with the family and a live like a real Austrian teenager. You will fit in easily with the family and be able to go out and experiences the amazing culture, hike the mountains, ski or snowboard the slopes possibly just outside your door if you are in the Alps districts. The public transport to get anywhere is very good so you will be able to get around.
