Mrs Barbla Denoth  – Daughter Luisa  (15)  from Switzerland

Dear Jennifer

Thank you very much for sending me Luisa’s essay. Yes, she really had a very good time in Sydney. Her dream has become true and we so proud of her!

Thank you so much, Jennifer, for everything you have done for Luisa. With you, the organisations CEA and INTO she could make so many good experiences that will last for all her life.

Also for us it was very important to know that Luisa is in good hands and that we always can contact you if we have any questions or problems.

So thank you very much that you were there also for us, answering our questions, sending pictures or just informing us about what’s going on. Australia is so far away from us and the thought that Luisa (15 years old when she left us!) is on the other side of the world, made us very worried.

Thank you we could be quiet and relaxed, knowing that you will be there also for us parents, great support that we appreciated very, very much!

For Luisa it will be soon time to say goodbye to Sydney and all her friends (will not be easy for her!) and we can't wait to have our little sunshine back home. We will make lots of publicity for you and CEA here in Switzerland.

Kind regards

Barbla Denoth & family

Switzerland  -  Daughter Linda – 16 yrs
Mrs Manuela Huesser –shares per experience and an update on her daughter Linda’s experience while on the Sydney Program

Dear Jennifer,

Sorry for my late reply. I would be happy to write a letter with my personal opinion on the CEA Sydney program.

Overall I must admit that as parents, we were very satisfied with the choice of program Linda opted for. The 6 month program in Sydney was just the right length for our daughter. Perhaps someone else would have been happy to stay one whole year, but for Linda this was the perfect match. We were very glad that CEA offers this shorter program.

CEA:
During the preparation phase here in Switzerland, we were regularly in contact with Corina, your CEA partner in Switzerland.  All administrative information was very detailed and comprehensively documented. Being a concerned mother, Corina assured me repeatedly that their partner organization CEA, namely you, Jennifer, were very professional and experienced and that they had been working with you for a number of successful years. She also assured us that during a child's stay in Australia you would be the contact person in any case and that there was nothing to worry about. This was truly what we had experienced. Whenever Linda had a problem, she would immediately contact you to discuss the issue (i.e. when she had problems with the host families). We were very relieved and felt very comfortable that Linda was being looked after so well by you. Thank you again for all your help.

Host family:
Although Linda's first Host family didn't work out, I'm sure that another child with another character and personality would have fitted in with the first family well. Her 2nd Host family, the all the more, made up for everything. They were a great family; very kind, warm and yet firm and had their rules and regulations. Linda was very happy there, although sometimes there were some misunderstandings, which she addressed to the host family immediately and got the problem solved. We do understand that this is absolutely normal. Happens in our family too. I'm Glad her family had an open ear and had the same attitude to find solutions when a problem arose. Other than that, they were a very dear family, with strong family values. The girls were lovely and got along very well with Linda. We can strongly recommend this family for further exchange students.

School:
At Frenchs Forest State High School Linda took advantage of taking subjects that are not offered in her school here in Switzerland i.e. photography, drama, surfing as a sport. She thoroughly enjoyed those classes. We visited the campus and spoke to the principal and the deputy principal. All the staff gave us such a good and sympathetic impression. The school's academic level did not correspond to the Swiss level, however, we were informed about this by INTO prior to accepting to send Linda to an Australian State High School. Also the teachers were not very strict and were very easy going. This is probably the Australian mentality.

We have heard from other sources that classes in private schools in Australia are conducted in a more disciplined and strict manner. Perhaps you could add a choice of private schools into your program for exchange students whose parents wouldn't mind paying a premium for their child to attend a private school. This is simply an idea, as some Student exchange  Organizations do offer this choice at a premium price.

So overall we were more than satisfied and our expectations were excelled. You did a wonderful job Jennifer and we are very grateful for all your help and special assistance during Linda’s stay in Sydney. This truly was a one time in a life-time experience not only for Linda, but also for us parents.  Linda has matured during this time and has learnt a lot in terms of inter-cultural exchange.

Thanks to you, we always felt very assured that Linda was in good hands. We can definitely highly recommend your Organization and Swiss partner to anyone who would be interested in sending their child for an exchange program.

Thank you again for making this experience a memorable one.
Wishing you all the best
Kind regards

Manuela Hüsser

Dr and Mrs  Deangeli  - ITALY

Son – Giulio 16 years has just arrived in Sydney – here is what they are saying

Dear Jennifer,

You can't imagine how much we appreciate your e-mail and everything you are doing for Giulio.

That's very kind of you. Thank you!

Giulio telephoned us shortly to let us know he was happy and safe at the Bethell's place. His voice was really enthusiastic. He told us he had problems with the Italian Sim card but luckily he was given a telephone card to call home.

We haven't received any e-mail from him yet but we imagine it will take a little time to him to familiarize with the place and people.

We are glad to know he is having a nice time enjoying Sydney and his new friends.... We are sure that this experience in Australia will be a really striking one.

Please feel free to contact us for anything you might need.
We just keep in touch...

Best regards

Betty and Diego

Mr Jim and Mrs Heather Wyatt – Canada

Brennan – From Nova Scotia Canada     18 – yrs on the Gap program – stayed 13 months.

Brief from Mr Jim Wyatt

Sorry for the delay getting back to you, yes they can contact me and any other parents can call me any time.

It was an pleasure meeting you during my visit to Sydney during the end of September. I am so glad I had the opportunity to personally thank you, the school staff and instructors and especially the host family.

Jim and Brennan in Sydney at the end of the program

It truly meant a lot to me to be able to thank you as the last year created such a wonderful life experience for Brennan.  It was also great to see the changes in Brennan because of his Australian experience. Specific we saw him mature, become more independent, and well round having this global exposure.  Although Brennan was not shy, he did grow socially and grew his self confidence thru this experience.

This is a far cry from the very beginning of this endeavor. In the very beginning we were nervous and reluctant. After all, we had little knowledge of Campus Education Australia, the suggested school and the host family and basically we where being asked to put most of the funds for the administration, schooling and residence (room, meals, etc) up front.  But you provided us with the comfort and confidence to trust you with our son and over a year later I am glad we did. If I can ease the reluctance of any parent considering this opportunity for their child, I will gladly do so.

I am also glad I experienced the interaction of the family (Malcolm and Julia) with Brennan and the other foreign student (Morris) from Germany. The household was very well organized, but at the same time very easy going. The family was very caring and inclusive, by this I mean they gave both Brennan and Morris the opportunity to be included in all family activities. While maintaining established routines, the host family made Brennan at ease and comfortable in their home.

I believe the experience did enrich Brennan's life, and would recommend the experience to anyone looking to broaden their child's horizons. Once again It was an pleasure meeting you.

Kind regards  Jim Wyatt.

From Mrs  Heather Wyatt – below

Hi Jennifer – so glad you and Jim had a chance to meet in Sydney .Brennan is patiently waiting to see if he is accepted at Uni for January admission.  Our fingers are crossed as he does not have a ‘Plan B’.  He is all grown up for sure – and Malcolm and Julia provided a loving and caring home for him and we are forever grateful for that.  It was a perfect match!!!

Please feel free to give our contact info to anyone considering CEA   This was such a positive experience for our family and I would be more than happy to endorse your services.

As you said, it is overwhelming, and so far away.   With Brennan being gone for the 13 month program, we were overjoyed that he did come home during the Christmas break.  If his program had been only a few months, I’m sure we would have insisted that he stay.

Thanks Jennifer for making our son’s experience such a wonderful one.  If we can help in any way, please let us know.

Warm regards,

Heather

Dr Alexander and Mrs Barbara Riklin

Son -   Lucas Riklin – 17 years Vienna Austria

In Sydney for 6 months Jan – July

Dear Jennifer,

Only one more week until Lucas will be back to Vienna.

First of all we want to thank you very fondly for everything! You supported Lucas in such a very kind way during his stay in Sydney. It was a good feeling for us

knowing there is someone taking care and helping. We read Lucas' report and were impressed how he improved his English, described his stay in Australia in great details and expressed his feelings about everything. We think these 6 months have been a great challenge and adventure for Lucas. He learned to live and act more independent, got to know Australia, it's people and culture, found a new home at his lovely hostfamily (Thank you for choosing this kind family for him!!!), got to know a different school system, nice teachers and a lot of new schoolmates. Of course he also improved his English skills and besides discovered his love for surfing. One of the highlights of his stay was the big safari, where Lucas didn't only see so many beautiful places but also made many friends from all over the world. Now we are looking forward to having Lucas back home again. It will not be easy for him to leave his new life, his hostfamily and his friends at Sydney.

Dear Jennifer, once again: many thanks for your support and effort! Our youngest son Laurenz already mentioned, that he also would like to go to Australia in some years - so maybe we will talk to you then.

If you are ever planning to travel to Europe, we would be happy to welcome you in Vienna.

Best regards and hope to see you,

Barbara and Alexander

Dr Angelika Bernardo  - Manuel 15 years from Switzerland – 10 months  Jan- Dec

Dear Jennifer,

Thank you very much for your mail and for Manuel’s report. We phoned Saturday and Sunday. Since changing school and family he is absolutely happy and enjoying his staying in Sydney. You can feel his happiness and his satisfaction in each mail and every call. Probably the first months weren’t easy for him for a lot of circumstances. We had much more calls than now and sometimes he was calling his sister not wishing that we are worried about him.

As well as Manuel we want to thank you that you managed to assist him with everything.  This ten months being in Sydney must be a great experience for him.

Not only bringing up his knowledge in the English language (except writing e-mails, he has similar mistakes in his German written mails, but this is o.k. I guess he is always in a hurry), also experience another country with another culture, life-styles, schools and families. Becoming  in another way mature as at home. For sure you know this working with exchange students.

Living together is not always easy. There are misunderstandings and hurts of person’s feelings or different ideas. But he will learn and make his experiences. Usually Manuel tries to do his best. As a mother you know about the strength and weakness of a child and usually you know when you should help or assist a child. This is only partially possible if a child is far away.

Sure we would like to have him back and I hope it will be possible for him after finishing school to come again to Sydney or to another city of Australia. May be for studying.

I am looking forward being in 4 weeks in Australia, getting an idea where Manuel spent almost a year of his life.  I would appreciate to meet you because for my understanding you have been for Manuel a very important person helping and understanding him.

Thank you very much for looking for him and taking care for him in a very special way!

Kind regards

Angelika

Brief from her Father Mr Edoardo Professione

after she has returned home – safely to Italy

Hi Jennifer,

Silvia return journey went very smoothly! Unfortunately we had her with us only for two days as she immediately left to go to the sea with her friends. She will be back this week and she will surely answer your mail.

Silvia is really enthusiastic and  already thinking at all possible ways to advertise CEA. I have no doubt she will be a great promoter!

I take the opportunity to thank you for all you have done for Silvia. We have been EXTREMELY satisfied with her stay in Australia. It was a wonderful personal experience and her English improved a lot. The family was really warm and welcoming: they made Silvia feel at home.  We also had a very nice videoconference with them on Skype a few days before Silvia's departure.

If your future prospective students ask you for references on CEA please feel absolutely free to use us. We will be very happy to share our experiences with CEA and Silvia’s experience in Sydney Australia!

Re: Greetings from Sydney Australia

hi Jennifer!!!

how are you?! hope everything is fine in far-far-away Australia!? =)

I can't even tell you how often I am thinking of my time in Sydney!!! probably every day!!! it was the best decision to go on exchange at the age of 16, because it was so easy going and now it would be a lot more stressful! I have been thinking of coming back many times to my host sister Teagan's wedding or to travel around with a friend from Austria, but I have seen more than most Australians in 2006, so i was traveling to other countries as well!!! =)

right now i am at university in Graz and i do environmental system science and business administration!!! i really like it, i am like my dad thinking of my interests and maybe i will work for his company one day but at that is part of the future!!! i will be at uni for about another 4 years but that's right for me!!!

how about you?! what's up in Sydney!? do you still work for CEA!?

nice greetings from Austria =)

PS: my professors at uni were thinking I am Australian because of my English!!! how funny is that!! =)

Mr Ray Bensen

Daughter Keeley 16 yrs USA

Parent overview on how his daughter Keeley 17 from USA   Experienced  her Trip down under  with CEA – she has now returned home.

My daughter Keeley had the most fantastic time while she was in Sydney Australia.

She was matched with a wonderful and perfect family to stay with.   They just did everything with her and took her out and showed her so much.   The school was very good also. She was able to participate in many activities at school.

As Keeley is a talented Musician,  it was important for us for her be able to join a Jazz band and beyond our expectation CEA assisted and  matched  her with a fabulous perfect family with similar interests.   The school had a very good band program and she was also able to do an additional Sydney wide band program.

CEA also advised us  in advance that there was a School Ski camp the week Keeley arrived and ensured that she had a place to go before we arrived.  If  they had not been so organized she  would have missed it.   Going on a week long skiing trip with her school class was a lot of fun and really helped her be included in her Year group – this is highly recommended.

Sending your child to live in a foreign country is a big step for the parents and the child. Jennifer and  CEA was a lot of help. She answered all my questions and checked on my daughter while she was in Australia. My daughter has had an Experience of a life time and also has made friends for a life time.   Thank you Jennifer and CEA.

Jennifer, you can have people contact me if they wish.  I hope everything is going well with you and that you have a lot of good new kids getting an experience of Australia.   Ray

Parent overview Mr Richard Black – USA

Mr Richard Black thanks CEA for the time spent on locating the right family for his daughter before she arrives in on Sydney Program.

CEA does ask that you be patient some times and we will find the right family for your son or daughter – here is brief from a very happy girl and her father’s overview

Samantha Black   North Carolina  USA 16 years – 6 months

Dear Jennifer

To say that my daughter is a little overjoyed would be a gross understatement. From first showing her the family write up to the pictures she was “over the moon”. This is certainly the right family for her and I’m sure that they will all get along. Thank you for your diligent work in finding such a compatible family.

Richard A. Black         Laurinburg, NC. 28353  US

Samantha  16 – just arrived in Sydney from the US  today  Message from her father

Sam phoned us about 7:30pm our time, had a nice chat but we could tell she was tired. Why is it that sitting in an airplane seat for so long is so taxing? I tracked the flight on my computer so knew that it had landed safely and once I heard from her, it was a great load lifted.

Now she can get on with the fun part and we are relatively worry free with the great family and home you have found for her. Let me know if there are any things you or she needs that we have forgotten.

Regards

Richard.

Mr Stefan and Mrs Andrea  Materne – From Germany  - Charlotte has just returned home  and here is  message from her parents.

Daughter:   Charlotte 16 yrs in Sydney stayed  6 months from GERMANY

Charlotte 2nd from left

Hi Jennifer,

Many thanks for your kind email, and apologies for not informing you earlier about Charlotte's safe arrival. Since then we have been very busy chatting and learning about all her adventures and the great time she has had in Down Under. We were all very happy to have her back -- at the same time Charlotte was sad about leaving the Crawfords as indeed they were fantastic host parents and friends at the same time. Many thanks again for taking such a wonderful choice. Also, Andrea and I have never had a moment being concerned about Charlotte's well-being and we have been very grateful for that to the Crawford family, and you.

Charlotte mentioned that she was so pleased about you stopping by on the day she left so that you could have a farewell chat.

So it went all very well, and obviously I'm more than happy to write a Parent reference in January and to getting contacted by other parents in a similar situation we were in some months ago. Actually, I have already recommended your good services to a business friend of mine; his son had not yet decided where he would like to go, though.

Many thanks again to you for organizing Charlotte's stay so well and for your patience with us as we asked so many questions beforehand (apologies again).

Many thanks also for your Christmas card and wishes. We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Warmest regards,

Andrea, Stefan, Charlotte and Lorenz

Mrs Elsbeth and Mr David Dean – Switzerland – Daughter Jessica 17  – Jan-Dec

Hello,

This is Elsbeth and David Dean, parents of Jessica Dean (17) who spent 11 months in Sydney, Australia.

We chose CEA Campus Education Australia and partner organisation in  Switzerland to realise this exchange year because we were mostly interested in the Sydney Programme that they offer. This way it was guaranteed that Jessica would definitely be placed close to Sydney and we had greater support with choosing a host family and school.

We have to admit that it was a strange feeling when we brought Jessica to the airport and knowing that we won’t see her again for almost a year. But we think for people her age it is an enormous opportunity and challenge to experience people’s way of living in a foreign country and to cope with a different language. We have both made this experience ourselves and still tell about it today.

After her arrival in Sydney, she gave us a quick call, saying that her host family had picked her up from the airport and that everything was fine. After a couple of hours sleep, her great adventure began.

School hadn’t started yet because the summer holidays went on for another week after her arrival. This was good, so she had enough time to get used to her new surroundings. Her host family made a great effort in showing Jessica her new home and also helped her handling things like catching the bus, opening her bank account and getting the school uniform. There was so much new to discover, that she hardly found the time to call home. We never really had the impression that she was very homesick or so.

She had some trouble settling in at school, especially the first couple of weeks. But after a while she got used to everything and had made friends.

Jennifer from Campus Education Australia CEA (partner organisation of INTO, based in Sydney) gave her the needed support. Jessica was glad she had a person she could always contact in case something was wrong or she wasn’t happy. Jennifer also recommended to her, to join a soccer club, getting involved into sport, free activities, etc. That way she was also busy after school and made many more friends.

She didn’t seem to find it difficult to adapt to a new household. It seemed to work out for both sides. Perhaps did the sometimes long discussions over dinner help to understand each other and maybe to solve problems straight away.

We are happy to have her back home now. She needs some time to get used to her Swiss everyday life again. We didn’t take it personally when she said jokingly (after being home for two days): “I’ve had enough of Switzerland again, I wanna go back to Sydney now!”

We’ve made very good experiences with Campus Education Australia and their partner organisation in Swizerland and they have been there for Jessica during the whole 12 months.

It has allowed us to feel relief knowing  she was in capable and caring hands.  And the partner organisation  Switzerland has been wonderful also. . Whenever there were problems or questions, we could address them anytime to either people in Switzerland or directly to Australia and it was fixed and assess immediately.  Now that is what you want for your child when they are on the other side of the world.

It is important to talk about concerns and get them sorted out. Also from Jessica’s side we have the feeling that she was being looked after very well and that she enjoyed the time she had overseas – thank  you CEA

Greetings from Switzerland Elsbeth and David Dean ( Parents)

Adair Nowacki - July – Dec -17 years

From USA

Thank you  from her Mother

Mrs Denise Nowacki

Thank you  -  from Mrs Nowacki

Adair with her host family

I would like to recommend CEA to anyone who is interested in an Educational and Cultural experience.   From the very first contact with yourself and CEA, I was reassured that I was dealing with a professional, trustworthy organization.    Throughout the six months that my daughter, Adair, was in Sydney,  Jennifer kept me informed and was able to put away any concerns that I  may of had.

Sending my only child to a unknown place where we knew no - one could have been a frightening experience, but because the reassurance I was able to maintain my confidence that Adair was in good hands.

Adair came home with a new perspective about the world.   Having, now had the opportunity to live in another country gives her insight to living here in the U.S. She has grown and matured because of this opportunity.

Both Adair and I feel that this has been a positive life changing experience that she can take with her for the rest of her life.

Thank you once again

Denise Nowacki

One more thing  Jennifer,

Adair is currently working on her senior project for graduation. She is doing her project on her experience in Australia. One of the requirements is that she have a mentor. She would like that mentor to be you. This means that if Adair needs any information that she could ask for you, actually, she does not need much help. She did much of her research while she was there. It is just a formality. Would you be so kind as to sign the attached and email back to me.

Thank you so very much.  Denise

Who We Are

CEA is here to offer students, families and agents a more personal and professional service. CEA is owned and Managed by Mrs. Jennifer De Florio who is the Managing Director of the company. It was decided similar programs being offered did not come close to the high standard CEA expects, so CEA decided to put together a program that would provide for the student, family and agent.
